Athletic Fields
The Athletic Fields Maintenance Department worked in tandem in the fall of 2009 with Pacific Sports Turf on a major drainage project at Sunset Park. This project, funded with capital improvement dollars, added a new drainage system to the four ballfields that are used from March through November by our patrons and teams.
The new system is designed to catch surface run-off while it is actively raining, in addition to draining the saturated soils well after the rain has stopped. This system, coupled with our routine turf maintenance, should be an excellent tool for our maintenance team to rebound from those rainy spring days when we all want to get out and play ball!
The project will wrapped up in November and the fields were ready to go in spring 2010.
